About Mister Anxiety

When I was 9 years old I had my first anxiety attack. I think that’s too young. I also think that anxiety is a condition which people ignore, because they recognize it within themselves and are too afraid of the stigma of mental illness to do anything about it.

Other less important things about me are I have a degree in English Literature which I refuse to apologize for, so don’t ask. Unless, of course, you love Milton and Shakespeare and want to argue over who was the greatest. In that case, please write to me immediately. I’m also a convert to the Catholic church although I am very liberal in my views, and I feel no need to convert you.

Because anxiety has been such a large part of my life, and so many failures can be laid at its feet, that now, at 50, I am converted to the Anti-Anxiety Evangelist. Although Klonopin works for me, that doesn’t mean it will for you. The important thing is to get the news out there to people, that sometiems pulling yourself up by the bootstraps is like telling a drowning person, why don’t you just get out of the water?

So instead of bemoaning how hard life is, I can help rouse people to at least talk about their experience with anxiety to one other person, at least once a day.
